2nd Amendment, America

Guns Don’t Kill Mr. Statist Politician

This Tuesday Vice President Biden is scheduled to deliver his report to President Obama on the issue of gun violence in America and his specific recommendations on what to do to curtail said violence. After meeting with numerous gun control advocates, which were deemed insightful and highly productive, the Vice President met with The National Rifle Association, (NRA) for what was called unproductive talks.

One person who was not asked to meet with Mr. Biden was a man who probably should have been the first person contacted to lend insight on this complex issue. This man has combined his varied experiences to become founder of a new field of scientific endeavor entitled “killology”.

I’d like to introduce you to quite an extraordinary man who knows a thing or two about killing. His name is LT. COL. Dave Grossman, U.S. Army (Ret.). Mr. Grossman, a former professor of psychology at West Point, Professor of Military Science, and Army Ranger is an authority on killing. His book “On Killing” was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and is required reading at the FBI academy and numerous other academies and colleges. He has written another bestselling book entitled “On Combat” and co-authored “Stop Teaching Our Kids to Kill: A Call to Action Against T.V. Movie and Video Game Violence.”

Mr. Grossman is one of America’s foremost authorities on PTSD and has trained military and police officers across the nation how to kill and how to deal with the emotional effects of killing. If The President was serious in saying we need to look at all options and come up with a comprehensive plan to address the issue of gun violence why was this expert not brought in for his ideas?

Recently, Mr. Grossman appeared on Glenn Beck’s network GBTV to discuss gun violence and what he had to say was informative and startling. He started the interview by posing a question of his own. He asked why is gun violence more prevalent today when more guns per capita existed 50, 75 years ago?

Could it be because violence is glorified and so prevalent in our culture? When I was a kid and wanted to play war I would go outside with my G.I. Joe action figures and create a village to defend and attack. Today’s youth play violent video games with images so realistic it’s near on impossible to differentiate the game from reality. Mr. Grossman says there is no doubt in his mind that the affects these images have on an 8 or 9 year olds brain, which has yet to fully develop, is dangerous. These violent games which depict brains being blown off from close range not only desensitize our children to gore and violence, it actually gives them an endorphin rush and feeling of joy from mass killing.

Some will argue “It’s Only a Video Game”…

Mr. Grossman explains violent video games are teaching our children to be like Pavlov’s Dogs. Our children are deriving pleasure from viewing frequent images of death and destruction similar to how Pavlov trained his dogs to salivate to stimuli. Most of the victims of the Columbine massacre were killed at close range by a 12 gage shot gun. What kind of savage can commit such hellacious imagery over and over? One who has been desensitized to it. Another thing about some of these shooter video games which is absolutely sick is that once the shooter runs out of targets the only way to reboot or advance to the next stage is to take your own life.

Technology is getting better and better. As a result, with better technology there should be fewer cops murdered in the line of duty. The statistics prove otherwise:

2008:42 2009:48 2010:56 2011:72

Mr. Grossman contends that gangs have declared war on cops in America and video games have provided training for gang members. The video games are so realistic and basically condition the shooter exactly the way real-life simulators do; stimulation – response, stimulation – response. Moreover, according to Mr. Grossman, Islamic Militants are honing their shooting skills by playing these violent video games. I shudder to think the devastation it would do to the country if they planned a coordinated Sandy Hook style attack times 10 throughout the nation.

Of course, arming educators to defend against such an attack are off the table in Mr. Biden’s list of recommendations it has been reported. After-all, something that has worked in Israel for years and has proven to be effective would be of no consequence to this witch hunt of a gun grabbing exercise being conducted by this Constitution trampling administration.

Maybe we as a society need to turn back a little from technology. Another program that Mr. Grossman sponsors is called “Take The Challenge Take Charge” http://www.takethechallengenow.net
This is a fantastic program that works from Pre-Kindergarten through High School. The positive results achieved by turning off the T.V., video games, and movies for 10 days are astonishing. I urge anyone with children to go to this website read up on this program and see if they can have it implemented in their school district. The program is interactive and requires input from the family unit to be successful.

For those who think such a program is nonsense here are some disturbing stats taken from their website:
The average 7th grader views 4hrs of TV daily with 60% violent content.
The average 7th grader plays 4 hrs of 50% violent video games weekly.
The exposure to violence has been linked to ADD/ADHD in children.
The rate of ADD/ADHD has risen 600% since 1990.
Most top selling video games (89%) contain violent content, almost half of which is of a serious nature.
By the time the average child has reached age 18 they will have witnessed 200,000 acts of violence and 16,000 murders.
Children spend more time watching TV than any other activity than sleep.
Children in households where screens are on “always” or “most of the time” are less likely to read than are children in homes where screen time is controlled.
Children often behave differently after they’ve been watching violent programs on television. Children who watched violent shows are more likely to strike out at playmates, argue, disobey authority and are less willing to wait for things.
Excessive cell phone usage is linked to causing anxiety, falling grades, sleep deprivation, and repetitive stress injury.

So while the utopian, statist, politicians use the Sandy Hook and Aurora tragedies as a means to implement gun control and attack the 2nd Amendment, nothing appears to be done to address the real issue which is mental health. Currently in America it is near on impossible to get someone institutionalized until they commit a crime. In fact, due to organizations like The ACLU you can’t even call law enforcement and tell them your neighbor is nuts without running the risk of having a lawsuit brought against you!

While leftist ideologues like NY Governor Cuomo, who dream of a future residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, declare “You don’t need 10 bullets to shoot a deer”, law abiding Americans who purchase firearms for sport and protection worry how this will end. Let me remind Governor Cuomo, Mayor Bloombery, Diane Feinstein et all the wording of the 2nd Amendment – “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” The 2nd Amendment was clearly put in place to enable citizens to arm themselves against a tyrannical and overreaching government.

No bureaucrat in Washington or the state capital has a right to tell me what I need in relation to protecting my family. One thing I know is the person committing the crime isn’t going to abide by draconian laws of the statist! No, they will purchase their firearms illegally and will come with the most firepower they can pack!
Inflicting tyranny against its citizens will only increase the amount of crime. One only needs to take a look at the city of Chicago, a city with the toughest hand gun laws and lawlessness and gun violence rule the streets. If these leftist fools get their way the only people armed will be criminals, the police state, those hired to protect politicians, and the Bilderberg wealthy elite.

  1. This blog should be read in church. Parents who want to raise responsible children who grow up to be responsible adults should take this instruction to heart. I hope my adult children who were raised without violent video games will take seriously this information and implement safeguards in their homes. You reading this, Kids?
